a survey commissioned by The Straits Times, of S'poreans betw. 21 n 34, found tt half in dis age grp arent interested in politics.
H/W, 7 in 10 r keen 2vote @ the cuming GE. 4 in 10 wld b disappointed if they din get 2vote cos dere's a walkovr in their constituency.
since '88, 500,000 S'poreans haf turned 21 n bcum eligible voters. dis wrks out 2abt 420,000 hu r nw betw. the ages of 21 n 34.
if dese young voters were 2b put into several GRCs, they cld swing the vote 4 3 large GRCs. h/w, as they're scattered all ovr SG, their impact @ the polls is less direct.
1 in 4 of dis grp has a Uni degree, compared 2 1 in 7 4dose in their 40s. tt translates into a more vocal grp.
almst 9 in 10 rank the cost of basics, such as health care, public transport, food n utilities, tops on a list of issues tt wld sway their vote. nxt came jobs, wif 7 in 10 citing it as a factor in their voting decision.
it's wat political parties say they can do abt lowering the cost of hospital bills, bus fares*nod vigorously* n utility bills tt matters.
